Class 3

  Dear Parents

Welcome to Summer Term 2010. It doesn’t seem 2 minutes since I left for maternity leave and here I am back again! Class 3 have all been very welcoming and I am sure we will have a great term.
Over the next few weeks our topics are going to be “Mary, Mary”, in which we will be looking at plant structure and how they grow and reproduce. We will also be looking at where our food comes from. Our next topic is called “Rain or Shine.” We will be investigating the weather and how humans use the weather i.e. wind farms and solar panels. I am hoping to produce some great art work using photo images the children will take themselves!
After half term, we will be exploring the country of Bangladesh in “Asia Express!” We will enjoy some of their food and look at how their culture is different to ours; including their traditional entertainment - shadow plays. We will be making our own puppets and writing our own plays.
As last term, Mr and Mrs Reeves will be coming in on a Tuesday morning to teach drumming. This term we are moving away from the djembe and will be learning samba. The class really enjoyed learning the djembe, and I am sure that samba will be just as fun!
PE this term will be on Tuesdays. We will be doing outdoor games such as rounders and netball, so please ensure your child has the correct kit in school for this day. Swimming will be on Wednesdays.
As last term I will be giving homework out on Fridays (both Literacy and Numeracy) to be handed in on the following Wednesday. From time to time, I will also give out homework to add to their topic and science work.

If you have any questions about this please do not hesitate to contact me or the Class 3 team (Mrs Bills, Mrs Brice and Mrs Wilson) who will be happy to answer any queries.

Thank you
