Walk on Wednesday
Last month we had a brilliant response to the national Walk to School week initiative; many children blinged up their shoes and wellies for the walk on Wednesday. It was a fantastic event and the artwork created by the children, of landmarks they see on the way to school, were quite brilliant!
CHICKENS – ALLOTMENT – ORCHARD update
Many of you will already be aware of the sad news that one of our chickens died. I can report that our two remaining chickens are very well and continue to lay delicious eggs.
This week, when the chickens return, Year 5 will be caring for the chickens followed by Class 3 the week after, then Class 2 and 1. If you are lucky enough to win the eggs in the egg raffle, please don’t forget to send in a £1 in order that the chickens can be self funding.
The allotment is looking fantastic. Lots of care has been taken to tend the plots and each one now has a selection of vegetables growing in it.
TADPOLES AND FROGS
Class 1 and 2 have cared for tadpoles over the last few weeks, watching them grow into tiny frogs before their very eyes. Some of the bigger frogs have already been set free into our school pond. Have a look at the ECO display board to see images of class 1 releasing the frogs.
KEY STAGE 2 PLANTERS
In our attempts to improve our environment we have added decorative plants to the previously unused planters in the Key Stage 2 playground. The plants were kindly donated by Mr and Mrs Inkley of Greenacre plant nursery in Sutterton, and children from class 2 and 3 were very helpful in planting them up. The vibrant colours really brighten the day.
If you have any Eco friendly ideas that you think would benefit the school please contact myself or the school council team.
